疾患モデル動物を用いて動物の生理機能を探る | |
理学研究院附属の実験生物施設でげっ歯類動物の系統維持を行っていく中で、新たに数系統の疾患モデル動物が出現した。新系統は、特に脳神経系に異常を示すものが多く現れた。そこで新系統の動物、並びに従前より施設で維持管理されてきた動物を用いて、現在は脳神経系の発生、分化、変性に焦点を当てて研究を行っている。
生命科学の分野では、今、日々華々しい成果が発表されている。だがそこに至るまでは､地味で根気がいる作業を長期間繰り返していかなければならない。その先にあるものを見に行ってみませんか？

For nine years, I had raised mice and rats as technician in Center for Experimental Plants and Animals, Hokkaido University. During that time, I found some abnormal mice and rats, propagated them, and established new strains of mice and rats. Now I research genetic, pathology, and molecular mechanism about those rodents. I want to elucidate the principle about normal animals by analyzing those abnormal rodents.
