野生ショウジョウバエの分子系統学研究
ショウジョウバエ科のハエはこれまでに4000種以上が知られており、極地を除く世界各地に広く分布する。これらの系統関係については古くから注目され、これまで多くの研究が報告されているが、未だに不明な点が残されている。当研究室は、ショウジョウバエ科系統樹の決定版を提示することを目標に、これまであまり焦点があてられなかった分類群に注目し、野外採集と分子系統解析を行っている。また、ショウジョウバエは、その食性も、果実食、草本食、あるいはキノコ食と多岐にわたり、さらには野外での行動、季節消長、および微小環境の選好性といった特性も種によって大きく異なる。このような野生ショウジョウバエが持つ形質の多様性に注目し、得られた系統樹を基盤に形質進化の推定を行っている。
