私たちは定期的に海域の地震観測を行っています。観測のたびに図のような地震計を組み立て，船で沖合まで運びます。
We have regularly observed seismicity at the ocean bottom. For this observation, we put together seismographs ourselves and carry those by ship to an offshore area.
目的地に到着したら地震計を海底に落とし，一定期間放置します。この間に連続観測記録(地震波形)が取得されます。
We drop the seismograph from the ship on the ocean bottom. That on the bottom observes seismicity for several ten days.
再び船で沖合に行き，海底の地震計に信号を発信して浮上させます。海上に戻ってきた地震計を回収して大学に持ち帰り，観測記録を抽出・分析します。
Several ten days after, we again go to the offshore area to pick the seismographs up. Each of them comes to the sea surface after it receives our signal order for return. The observed data are extracted from those and analyzed at our lab.
