Makoto Mizunami, Professor

I was born in Fukuoka 1957. I was graduated from Kyushu University in 1980 and awarded a Ph.D. degree from Kyushu University in 1987. I was an assistant professor in Kyushu University (1984-1993), associate professor in Hokkaido University (1993-2002), associate professor in Tohoku University (2002-2009) and now is a professor in Hokkaido University.

My major research interests are to understand functional design of the insect “microbrain” and to compare it to that of other animals, including humans, to elucidate evolution of brains of animals. For details, see Research projects.
