Introduction
In Systematic Zoology Lab Practicum 2015, 37 third-year undergraduate students in the Division of Biology, Department of Biological Sciences, School of Science, Hokkaido University, visited Oshoro Marine Biological Station on 27 April, 11 May, 25 May, and 1 June 2015 (Figs 1–4). They collected marine invertebrates among laminarian holdfasts and mussel beds. Each pair of students selected one invertebrate specimen, which was photographed in living state and fixed in 99% EtOH.

In the Sapporo campus, the students extracted DNA, tried to PCR-amplify the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I gene (COI), and determined the sequence. In cases where COI amplification failed, they tired H3, 16S rRNA, or 28S rRNA genes instead.
